How do I buy a ticket? Tickets

Is a real-name ticket required? Tickets
Yes. The park uses real-name reservation; please enter ID numbers matching those who will enter, and verify with the ID card at the gate.
How do I check my order? Orders
Click “Order Query” at the top, then enter the phone number and ID number used for booking to see the order status and entry voucher.
Can I get a refund, and how? Refunds & Changes
Unused tickets can be refunded via “Order Query”; once approved, the refund is returned to the original payment method. See the park’s ticket notice for details.
How do I get to the park? Transport
Please see the transport guide under “Travel Guide”; you may also call the scenic area for advice.
Are there discounts for children or seniors? Tickets
Yes. Prices differ by ticket type (adult / child / senior / student). Please see the ticket detail page for the specific types and eligibility.
What should I bring for entry? Park Entry
Bring your original ID card; if you booked with a passport or a Home Return Permit, bring that original document. Other special documents should also be brought for verification on entry.
What are the opening hours? Other
Opening hours are subject to the park’s notice; call the park before you travel to confirm.
How far in advance should I book in peak season? Tickets
Tianmen Mountain uses real-name, time-slot reservation entry with a capacity limit for each slot. In peak season (May–Oct) we recommend booking at least 7 days ahead, and at least 10 days ahead during holidays. Same-day tickets are very few and usually sold out in peak season — please do not count on buying on the spot.
What is the difference from buying at the gate? Tickets
This platform offers real-name reservation tickets that let you lock in a date and entry time slot in advance. Compared with buying on site, the biggest advantage is that you need not worry about tickets being sold out on the day during peak season — all done on your phone, with no queueing at the window.
Can I buy tickets for someone else? Tickets
Yes, but each ticket must carry the real name and ID card number of the person who will enter; you cannot use one person’s information to enter with multiple tickets. One ticket per person; the ID card is verified on entry.
Do children need their own ticket? Tickets
Children aged 13 and under (inclusive) enjoy free admission (including round-trip cableway + shuttle bus + through-mountain escalator) and must be accompanied by a guardian; an insurance ticket is issued on site. Those aged 14–17 buy a concession ticket; those 18 and above buy an adult ticket, and full-time students may buy a student ticket.
Are refunds allowed? How are fees calculated? Refunds & Changes
Yes. Route C combo tickets are refunded free of charge; Route A / Route B combo tickets are charged CNY 30 per person for refunds two days or more in advance, and CNY 60 per person within one day or on the day. Refunds must be completed before 17:00 on the visit date; late requests are not accepted; tickets already used for entry are non-refundable. If entry is impossible due to the scenic area’s reasons (temporary closure, suspension due to bad weather), a full refund is given.
Can I change the date after booking? Refunds & Changes
Direct date changes are not supported. To change the date, please first refund according to the refund rules (a penalty applies) and then rebook for the desired date.
Can I visit Tianmen Mountain on a rainy day? Park Entry
Light rain generally does not affect the visit, but in heavy rain or fog the cableway may be temporarily suspended and the scenic area will issue a notice. We recommend confirming the day’s operating status before you set off. If entry is impossible due to the scenic area’s reasons, a full refund is given.
Do I need to exchange my ticket on arrival? Park Entry
No ticket exchange is needed. On entry, scan your second-generation ID card at the gate; if you booked with a passport, Home Return Permit or similar, bring that original document and pass verification at the gate or manned channel.
What if I did not receive my e-ticket? Orders
After a successful payment, check your e-ticket under “My Orders”. If it still does not appear, please contact customer service with a screenshot of your payment and we will look into it as soon as possible.
What time does Tianmen Mountain open? Other
Tianmen Mountain generally opens from about 07:30 daily; the last cableway time follows the day’s notice. We recommend allowing 5–7 hours (Route A or B), or 6–8 hours for a more relaxed full day. The summit is 5–8°C cooler than downtown, so bring a light jacket even in summer.
What should I note when buying for a minor? Tickets
When buying for a minor, please truthfully provide the guardian’s (policyholder’s) information, preferring the parents; if the parents cannot accompany, provide the legal guardian who will actually accompany. Make sure the name, ID card number and other key details are complete and accurate. Free admission for children requires a guardian to accompany, and an insurance ticket is issued on site.
What time does the “Tianmen Fox Fairy” show start and how long is it? Other
“Tianmen Fox Fairy · Liu Hai the Woodcutter” starts at about 20:20 each night (subject to the scenic area’s daily announcement) and runs about 90 minutes, at the Tianmen Mountain Canyon Grand Theater. We recommend arriving 30–45 minutes before the start; the gate opens about 40 minutes before the show.
Is the “Tianmen Fox Fairy” show performed in winter? Other
The “Tianmen Fox Fairy” show is suspended from about December to February each year, subject to the scenic area’s notice. Spring and autumn (Apr–Jun, Sep–Nov) offer the most pleasant weather and the best visual effects. Tickets are tight during holidays, so we recommend booking 3–5 days ahead.
What if it rains during the “Tianmen Fox Fairy” show? Other
The show is staged in an open canyon; light rain does not stop the show and free rain ponchos are provided — no need to bring your own. In severe weather such as heavy rain or lightning the show may be temporarily cancelled, in which case a full refund or rescheduling will be arranged.
How do I choose seats for the “Tianmen Fox Fairy” show? Other
For a first visit, Zone A (standard) is recommended — slightly off-center, balancing the full view and stage details at good value; for finer details choose the VIP zone, closer to the stage to see the performers’ expressions and costumes. Families should prefer aisle seats for easy access; Zone B is more affordable.
Which train station is closest and how do I reach the cableway station? Transport
Zhangjiajie Station (conventional trains) recommended: about 1–2 km from the Tianmen Mountain cableway lower station, a 10–20 minute walk; bus routes 5 or 6 take about 10–15 minutes (CNY 1–2); taxi / ride-hailing about 5 minutes (about CNY 10–15). Zhangjiajie West Station (high-speed rail): about 10 km from the cableway lower station, requiring a transfer; taxi / ride-hailing about 20–30 minutes (about CNY 30–40); bus 17 takes about 40–60 minutes.
How do I get to Tianmen Mountain from the airport? Transport
Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport (code DYG) is about 5–6 km from the Tianmen Mountain cableway lower station. Taxi / ride-hailing takes about 15–20 minutes (about CNY 15–30); bus 4 takes about 20–30 minutes (CNY 1–2); some hotels and B&Bs offer airport pickup. Insist on the meter for taxis and prefer ride-hailing.
How do I drive there and can I drive up the mountain? Transport
Search for “Zhangjiajie Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park” or “Tianmen Mountain Cableway Parking” in navigation. The scenic area has a large parking lot beside the cableway lower station. Private cars are strictly forbidden on the Heaven-Linking Avenue; internal traffic is managed by the scenic area, and all visitors must transfer to the park’s shuttle transport up the mountain.
Opening hours, how long to visit, and is the summit cold? Park Entry
Tianmen Mountain generally opens from about 07:30 daily; the last cableway time follows the day’s notice. We recommend allowing 5–7 hours (Route A or B), or 6–8 hours for a more relaxed full day. The summit is 5–8°C cooler than downtown, so bring a light jacket even in summer, and wear non-slip sports or hiking shoes.
How many routes are there at Tianmen Mountain? How do I choose A/B/C? Tickets
Tianmen Mountain has three routes: Route A (classic) — large cableway up + express cableway down, more spectacular going up, good for a first visit; Route B — express cableway up + large cableway down, good for off-peak and afternoon departures, seeing Tianmen Cave first then the summit; Route C (all express) — express cableway up and down, efficient and convenient, with no large cableway, good for those seeking efficiency or afraid of heights.
Is the glass skywalk safe? What if I fear heights? Park Entry
The glass skywalk is built with high-strength tempered glass and is safe, but it hangs over a thousand-meter cliff, so those afraid of heights should proceed with care. Visitors who fear heights or have heart disease or high blood pressure should choose cautiously or bypass it, or take Route C, which involves no large cableway. In rain, snow or strong wind some walkways may be temporarily closed — please check notices; shoe covers must be rented on site.
What are the differences between Routes A, B and C? Which should I choose? General
Route A uses the large cableway up and the express cableway down — the least tiring, best for a first visit; Route B uses the express cableway up and the large cableway down, so you see Tianmen Cave first then the summit, good for avoiding crowds; Route C uses the express cableway both ways with no large cableway at all — the most relaxed. First-time visitors or those with seniors and children should choose A or C.
Do I need a separate ticket for the cableway? General
No. The cableway is the scenic area’s unified transport and is included with the park ticket — no separate purchase. Details follow the ticket-type notes and the day’s notice.
Is there an extra charge for the glass skywalk? General
The Glass Skywalk is usually included in the ticket; at some times a small shoe-cover fee may apply (covers are provided on site). Please follow the on-site notice.
Can I finish Tianmen Mountain in one day? How long does it take? General
Yes. A full loop of the summit and Tianmen Cave usually takes 5–7 hours; peak-season queues add time, so set aside a whole day and enter early.
What does the Tianmen Mountain ticket include? General
The ticket includes entry with the cableway or park transport, the summit loop walkways and Tianmen Cave. Shoe covers for the Glass Skywalk, dining and the “Tianmen Fox Fairy” show ticket are purchased separately.
Are there discounts for children, students, seniors or military personnel? General
Yes. There are discounted ticket types for children, students, seniors and military personnel. The exact height/age criteria and discounts follow the scenic area’s notice — choose the matching type when ordering.
Can I still visit on a rainy day? Will the cableway stop? General
Light rain usually doesn’t stop operations and the mist can be atmospheric; in thunderstorms, strong wind or ice the cableway or some walkways may pause temporarily — follow the park’s notice, and you may reschedule or refund.
How do I get to Tianmen Mountain? Is it far from downtown Zhangjiajie? General
The Tianmen Mountain cableway base station is in downtown Zhangjiajie, close to the railway and bus stations — easy by taxi or bus. Drivers can navigate to the base-station car park.
Can the ticket be rescheduled or refunded? General
Unused tickets can be refunded or, per the rules, rescheduled via “Order Query”; once approved the refund returns to the original payment method. Tickets already used for entry or expired cannot be refunded — see the ticket notice for details.
Is there left luggage at Tianmen Mountain? General
Lockers or left-luggage points are available near the cableway stations and in some summit areas for large items. Space is tight in peak season, so travel light and keep valuables with you.
Is dining easy at the summit? Are there restaurants? General
The summit has restaurants and snack points offering noodles, fast food and drinks, but prices are higher than downtown and choice is limited. Carry some water and snacks, and eat off-peak.
Is Tianmen Mountain suitable for seniors and children? General
Yes. Choose Route A or C — mainly cableway and through-mountain escalator with fewer steps, easy for seniors and children. Still mind walkway safety, hold children’s hands and keep warm.
How far in advance should I book? Can I buy on site? General
Tianmen Mountain uses real-name timed booking. In peak season book online at least 7 days ahead, and 10+ days ahead for holidays; same-day tickets on site are very limited and often sell out — don’t rely on luck at the gate.
What is the best season to visit Tianmen Mountain? General
September–November offers clear skies, high visibility, red leaves and seas of clouds together — the most comfortable; March–May is lovely with blossoms and mist. Summer is cool at the summit but stormy; winter brings rime ice and snow scenes.
What is the difference between Tianmen Mountain and Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (Wulingyuan)? General
Tianmen Mountain is defined by Tianmen Cave, the Glass Skywalk, the Heaven-Linking Avenue and the cableway, and can be done in a day; Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (Wulingyuan) centres on the sandstone peaks of Yuanjiajie, Tianzishan and Golden Whip Stream, and is large — usually 2–3 days. They differ in style; visit both if time allows.
How long are the cableway queues and how do I wait less? Park Entry
In peak season queues often run 1–2 hours, shorter off-season. Arrive at the base station at 07:00–07:30 for the first gondolas in peak season, book online with real-name registration to skip the counter queue, and avoid the 09:30–11:00 group peak.
How far in advance can tickets be booked? Tickets
You can usually book several days to several weeks ahead; the bookable date range is shown on the booking page. For popular peak-season dates, book early to avoid selling out.
How many tickets can one ID card buy? Tickets
The park uses real-name tickets; normally one ID card corresponds to one ticket for that person. For a group, enter each person’s ID separately when booking and admit the actual number of visitors.
Can I enter without my ID card? Park Entry
With real-name entry you normally verify with your own ID card. If it is lost, contact support or the park in advance about accepted alternatives (temporary ID, household register, etc.) to avoid problems at the gate.
How do I use the e-ticket? Do I need a paper ticket? Park Entry
After booking online, enter by verifying your ID card or the original document used for booking at the gate — you usually don’t need to exchange for a paper ticket. Follow the booking page and the park gates.
Can I bring a pet to Tianmen Mountain? Park Entry
Pets are generally discouraged, and some areas (glass skywalk, cableway cabins) do not allow them. If you must bring one, ask the park in advance about pet storage or the relevant rules.
Is there a shuttle bus inside and is it extra? Transport
Internal transport is managed by the park; the shuttle bus is usually included in the ticket or route ticket and needs no separate purchase — check what your ticket type includes.
What should I watch out for in winter? Park Entry
In winter the summit often has snow and rime ice and can be below 0°C — wear a down jacket and warm, non-slip shoes. Some walkways may close temporarily due to ice; check the park’s notice and the day’s openings before you go.
Are there restaurants? Is food pricey at the summit? Other
The summit has simple meals, snacks and drinks, but choice is limited and prices are usually higher than downtown. Have main meals before or after the visit and carry bread, energy bars and water up.
Is there phone signal and charging at the summit? Other
Most of the summit has phone signal, but some walkways and tunnels are weak; charging facilities are limited. Charge up and bring a power bank — phone batteries drain faster in the cold.
What age is Tianmen Mountain suitable for children? Tickets
Children of all ages can visit, but watch safety and stamina. For preschoolers choose easier routes such as A/C and avoid steep walkways; the glass skywalk needs shoe covers and is not advised for infants. Child pricing and free-entry heights follow the park’s notice.
How is the student ticket verified? Do I need my student card? Tickets
After buying a student ticket, present your valid student card at entry for verification — carry it with you. Students from Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan or abroad should bring proof of enrollment, per the park’s rules.
Are there discounts for military personnel or people with disabilities? Tickets
The park generally offers discounts or free entry for military personnel, people with disabilities and others; the valid documents and standards follow the park’s notice. Choose the matching ticket type and bring the relevant valid ID for verification.
Can I get an invoice? Orders
An invoice is usually available; the method and type (electronic/paper) follow the booking platform’s rules. To request one, use the invoice entry on the order page or contact support with your title and tax number.
Can one person book for several people? Orders
Yes. Under real-name booking, fill in each visitor’s true name and ID information — one ticket per person. Make sure the details are correct to avoid problems at verification.
How soon will I receive my voucher after paying? Orders
An e-voucher is usually generated immediately after payment and can be viewed on the order page. SMS is not available on this site, and email is not guaranteed to deliver — please view or retrieve your voucher on the order page or via “Order Lookup” with your phone number + ID. If it still fails, contact support.
Are the “Tianmen Fox Fairy” show ticket and the mountain ticket separate? Other
They are separate ticket types: the mountain ticket does not include the “Tianmen Fox Fairy” show — buy the show ticket separately. Book each for your itinerary, and book ahead in peak season.
What if the park closes due to heavy rain or strong wind? Refunds & Changes
If weather or force majeure stops the cableway or closes the park, you can usually reschedule free of charge or get a full refund. Watch the park and platform notices, and apply via “Order Lookup”, or contact support.
Can tickets be rescheduled? How many times? Is there a fee? Refunds & Changes
Unused tickets can usually be rescheduled within the validity period; the number of changes and any fee follow the booking-page rules. Apply via “Order Lookup”, and confirm the new date still has availability first.
How long does the refund take to arrive? Refunds & Changes
After approval, refunds return to the original payment account; timing depends on the payment channel (usually 1–7 business days). If it is overdue, contact support with your order number.
Do I need a student card, and can graduate students buy a student ticket? Tickets
A student ticket usually requires showing your valid student card at entry — carry it. Full-time students (including postgraduates) generally qualify for the student discount; the exact scope follows the park’s notice, so confirm before you go.
How do I buy the “Tianmen Fox Fairy” show ticket and the mountain ticket? Tickets
They are separate ticket types that must be bought separately: the mountain ticket is for visiting by day, and the show ticket is for the evening performance. If you plan to do both, book each to fit the show time; if you only visit the mountain, a single ticket is enough.
What if I fear heights on the glass skywalk? Park Entry
Hold the handrail, look ahead and keep to the inner side, focusing on the distant view rather than your feet. If you really can’t step on the glass, take the ordinary walkway beside it — the views are just as good. Shoe covers are usually required; follow on-site guidance.
How long do the stairs take and is there an escalator? Park Entry
The 999 steps are steep; normal fitness takes about 20–40 minutes. If you tire easily or have children/seniors, ride the through-mountain escalator to the cave area and shoot from the plaza. Wear non-slip shoes, hold the handrail and rest midway.
Should I stay downtown or in Wulingyuan? Other
For Tianmen Mountain only, stay downtown (near the cableway base station); for the Forest Park only, stay near the Wulingyuan entrance; if doing both, stay one night each or pick one — about an hour apart. Book early in peak season.
What food is a must-try in Zhangjiajie? Other
Try the Tujia three-pot hotpot (sandixiaguo), sour fish/pork, she-rice, Western-Hunan cured meats and Zhangjiajie rice noodles. Local food is spicy — ask for mild or no chili; in-park restaurants are pricier, so have main meals downtown.
How do I fit Tianmen Mountain and the Grand Canyon Glass Bridge together? Transport
Both connect via downtown, roughly 0.5–1.5 hours apart. Do Tianmen Mountain in a day and the Grand Canyon Glass Bridge in half a day for a two-day trip; in peak season the bridge may cap visitors — book ahead and go for the early session.
Can I enter with a discounted ticket without the document? Refunds & Changes
Discounted tickets usually require showing the original matching document at entry; without it you may be asked to pay the difference or be denied discounted entry. Be sure to bring your ID and the relevant document (student card, officer card, disability certificate, etc.).
