Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park · Answers to common questions on tickets, entry, refunds and transport
How do I buy a ticket? Tickets
Choose a ticket and ticket type on the homepage or the “Book Tickets” page, fill in the visitors’ ID numbers and phone number, then pay. A park-entry voucher is generated after checkout; enter by verifying your ID card or the original document used for booking.
Is a real-name ticket required? Tickets
Yes. The park uses real-name reservation; please enter ID numbers matching those who will enter, and verify with the ID card at the gate.
Are there discounts for children or seniors? Tickets
Yes. Prices differ by ticket type (adult / child / senior / student). Please see the ticket detail page for the specific types and eligibility.
How far in advance should I book in peak season? Tickets
Tianmen Mountain uses real-name, time-slot reservation entry with a capacity limit for each slot. In peak season (May–Oct) we recommend booking at least 7 days ahead, and at least 10 days ahead during holidays. Same-day tickets are very few and usually sold out in peak season — please do not count on buying on the spot.
What is the difference from buying at the gate? Tickets
This platform offers real-name reservation tickets that let you lock in a date and entry time slot in advance. Compared with buying on site, the biggest advantage is that you need not worry about tickets being sold out on the day during peak season — all done on your phone, with no queueing at the window.
Can I buy tickets for someone else? Tickets
Yes, but each ticket must carry the real name and ID card number of the person who will enter; you cannot use one person’s information to enter with multiple tickets. One ticket per person; the ID card is verified on entry.
Do children need their own ticket? Tickets
Children aged 13 and under (inclusive) enjoy free admission (including round-trip cableway + shuttle bus + through-mountain escalator) and must be accompanied by a guardian; an insurance ticket is issued on site. Those aged 14–17 buy a concession ticket; those 18 and above buy an adult ticket, and full-time students may buy a student ticket.
What should I note when buying for a minor? Tickets
When buying for a minor, please truthfully provide the guardian’s (policyholder’s) information, preferring the parents; if the parents cannot accompany, provide the legal guardian who will actually accompany. Make sure the name, ID card number and other key details are complete and accurate. Free admission for children requires a guardian to accompany, and an insurance ticket is issued on site.
How many routes are there at Tianmen Mountain? How do I choose A/B/C? Tickets
Tianmen Mountain has three routes: Route A (classic) — large cableway up + express cableway down, more spectacular going up, good for a first visit; Route B — express cableway up + large cableway down, good for off-peak and afternoon departures, seeing Tianmen Cave first then the summit; Route C (all express) — express cableway up and down, efficient and convenient, with no large cableway, good for those seeking efficiency or afraid of heights.
How far in advance can tickets be booked? Tickets
You can usually book several days to several weeks ahead; the bookable date range is shown on the booking page. For popular peak-season dates, book early to avoid selling out.
How many tickets can one ID card buy? Tickets
The park uses real-name tickets; normally one ID card corresponds to one ticket for that person. For a group, enter each person’s ID separately when booking and admit the actual number of visitors.
What age is Tianmen Mountain suitable for children? Tickets
Children of all ages can visit, but watch safety and stamina. For preschoolers choose easier routes such as A/C and avoid steep walkways; the glass skywalk needs shoe covers and is not advised for infants. Child pricing and free-entry heights follow the park’s notice.
How is the student ticket verified? Do I need my student card? Tickets
After buying a student ticket, present your valid student card at entry for verification — carry it with you. Students from Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan or abroad should bring proof of enrollment, per the park’s rules.
Are there discounts for military personnel or people with disabilities? Tickets
The park generally offers discounts or free entry for military personnel, people with disabilities and others; the valid documents and standards follow the park’s notice. Choose the matching ticket type and bring the relevant valid ID for verification.
Do I need a student card, and can graduate students buy a student ticket? Tickets
A student ticket usually requires showing your valid student card at entry — carry it. Full-time students (including postgraduates) generally qualify for the student discount; the exact scope follows the park’s notice, so confirm before you go.
How do I buy the “Tianmen Fox Fairy” show ticket and the mountain ticket? Tickets
They are separate ticket types that must be bought separately: the mountain ticket is for visiting by day, and the show ticket is for the evening performance. If you plan to do both, book each to fit the show time; if you only visit the mountain, a single ticket is enough.
